SAO PAULO (AP) — David Kemboi of Kenya and Samira Raif of Morocco won at the Sao Paulo marathon on Sunday.
Kemboi won the men’s race on the streets of South America’s biggest city in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 55 seconds. He dominated from the start, crossing the line 1:19 ahead of Hailu Dogaga of Ethiopia.
Raif won the women’s race in 2:36:01, setting a record for the Sao Paulo event. Brazilian Maria Zerefina Baldaia had won in 2:36:07 in 2002.
Elizabeth Rumokol of Kenya was second Sunday, 47 seconds behind Raif.
