MoveOn.org activists will hand U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler a petition on Thursday while they stage a rally outside her Officer’s Row office.
The motive for the 1:30 p.m. gathering: To resist Republicans’ alleged assault on the middle class and American Dream, in Congress and in statehouses in Wisconsin and elsewhere, the group says.
Activists say GOP leaders are preserving tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy while they slash billions of dollars in wages and benefits from schoolteachers, firefighters, nurses and other groups.
At a scheduled meeting with Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, the group will present its “Defend the Dream” petition to oppose spending cuts in House Republicans’ budget plan.
