The annual fundraising dessert and auction hosted by The Salvation Army of Camas-Washougal has outgrown its traditional home.

It’s now set for 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Camas Community Center, 1718 S.E. Seventh St.

The event will include a full evening of food and entertainment, plus the live auction, dessert auction, silent auction and raffles. Admission is free, but donations of canned goods for Thanksgiving food boxes will gladly be accepted at the door.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. to preview auction items and bid on the silent auction. The dessert auction begins at 6 p.m., and the main event, the live auction, starts at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit efforts locally and oversees. “We use a portion of the monies we raise to support our international mission efforts,” said Jessica Wheeler, the Salvation Army’s social services coordinator for east county. “But the bulk of the proceeds will remain in Camas and Washougal to help local families in crisis situations.”

Wheeler said the Salvation Army of Camas-Washougal served more than 250 families in the past year via food boxes, emergency accommodations and utility assistance.
