Bucknell hits 17 treys, routs West Alabama 87-50

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Bryson Johnson scored 27 points on a career-high nine 3-pointers and Bucknell set a school record with 17 treys in an 87-50 rout of West Alabama on Saturday.

All 15 of Johnson’s attempts were beyond the arc in the TicketCity Legends Classic subregional game. Cameron Ayers added 20 points on 4 of 5 from long range as the Bison (4-2) attempted 34 3-pointers, tying a school mark, to finish at 50 percent.

Bucknell, which led 48-25 at halftime, has won four straight games. The Bison were 30 of 59 (50.8 percent) from the field compared to 17 of 62 (27.4 percent) for the NCAA Division II Tigers (1-5).

Bucknell had hit 15 3-pointers twice before, at Villanova in 2007-08 and at Boston College last season.

Phillip Morris led West Alabama with 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting.

The Bison had a 46-33 rebounding edge and dished out 23 assists.
