California beats No. 22 Virginia 59-50

HONOLULU (AP) — Layshia Clarendon had 16 points and 11 rebounds Sunday to lead California to a 59-50 victory over No. 22 Virginia in the final round of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.

The Golden Bears (4-2) led most of the game, taking their largest lead of 15 points early in the second half. They finished 41 percent shooting from the field.

Clarendon made 5 of 11 from the field, including shooting 3 for 6 from 3-point range. Reserve Justine Hartman added 12 points for California.

Chelsea Shine was 5 of 6 from 3-point range and had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Cavaliers (5-2), who shot just 31 percent from the field.

Ariana Moorer added 15 points for the Cavaliers while China Crosby scored 11.
