SEATTLE (AP) — Supporters cheered and yelled “Welcome home, Amanda” as Amanda Knox saw them in her hometown of Seattle for the first time after four years in an Italian prison.

The 24-year-old cried Tuesday evening before a crowd of well-wishers and media who were anxiously awaiting her arrival. The former University of Washington was last on U.S. soil before she left to study abroad in Perugia, Italy.

She says her family had to remind her “to speak in English, because I’m having problems with that.”

Wearing a brown cardigan, black leggings and her hair in a ponytail, she held hands with her mother as her attorney and family spoke.

She says her family is “most important thing to me right now, and I just want to go and be with them, so, thank you for being there for me.”
