TOKYO (AP) — Third-seeded David Ferrer of Spain advanced to the Japan Open quarterfinals, beating Australian qualifier Matthew Ebden 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 Thursday.

The second-round match was originally scheduled for Wednesday night, but was postponed after rain forced the roof at Ariake Colosseum to be closed and play on the outer courts suspended.

Ferrer will face the Czech Republic’s Radek Stepanek, a 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-1 winner over Switzlerland’s Marco Chiudinelli.

Later Thursday, top-seeded Rafael Nadal met Milos Raonic, and Andy Roddick faced Alex Bogomolov Jr.
