Hillary sparks Coastal Carolina past VMI 34-10

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Aramis Hillary scored three touchdowns and had 359 yards of total offense to lead Coastal Carolina past Virginia Military Institute on Saturday night in the Big South Conference opener for both teams

Hillary had for 35 of his 114 rushing yards on the run that opened the scoring, for the first of three straight scores for the Chanticleers (4-1).

After Coastal Carolina took a 17-0 lead, Jeff Sexton got VMI (0-5) on the board with a 29-yard field goal. The Chanticleers then responded with another set of three straight scores, capped by Aaron Jones’ 4-yard TD early in the third quarter for a 34-3 lead.

Hillary, who threw for TDs of 39 and 23 yards, finished with 245 yards on 14 of 23 passing.

While Coastal Carolina put up 487 yards of total offense, the Keydets managed just 266 in their eighth straight loss dating back to last season.
