Alumni Football Games — Alumni Football Washington is forming teams of past high school football players to play in one more football game representing their old high school against a rival school. Walk, Roll n’ Run 2011 — An event to raise awareness and funds for United Cerebral Palsy of Oregon and Southwest Washington. 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 10. King’s Way Lacrosse — For boys who live in Clark County. Do not need to attend King’s Way Christian schools. Competitive high school boys teams play in the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association in the spring. Youth teams (grades 5-8) play in Portland-area leagues. Details:

Southwest Washington Youth Lacrosse Club — Open to anyone enterting grades 3-10. Beginners welcome. Summer season began the first week of July and continues through August. Southwest Washington Lacrosse offers financial aid, and can loan free lacrosse gear to those who need it. Registration is also open for a new girls lacrosse program that begins in the spring. Little League’s main season runs March-July, including All-Star play. Some leagues offer fall ball programs. Little League is an all-volunteer program. In Washington, it is organized into 11 districts, two of which serve The Columbian’s readership area. Registration for the main spring-summer season is held in January and February. Boundary maps for the leagues in those districts are available on the district Web sites (listed below).

Here is some basic Little League information:

— Most leagues offer baseball and softball. Baseball for players ages 5-18 are based on the player’s age on April 30, 2011. Softball for girls ages 5-18 are based on player’s age on Dec. 31, 2010.

— Practices began in March and the Little League season runs through mid-June, followed by all-star competition.

— Little League is run by volunteers.

— Challenger Division. Battle Ground/Highlands, Columbia, and LaCamas are leagues that offer a Challenger Division for disabled players ages 20 and younger who live in southwest Washington.

Saturday, Sept. 10, 8 a.m. — Patriot Day Race at Cascade Park featuring runs of 4 kilometers, 8-K, and 12-K. Race course can be found at (cptneon 4K loop). Directions: Take Highway 14 to 164th Avenue. Go north, then turn left at the second light (McGillivray Boulevard) and go to the corner of Bella Vista Road. Restrooms & showers available. Saturday, Sept. 17, 8 a.m. — Vancouver Lake Park 10-mile and 4-mile Runs. A time-yourself race but race times will be recorded. The 10-mile run will go out to Frenchman’s Bar.

Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. — Lacamas Lake Park 5-mile Run. This run follows the mostly unpaved trails around Round Lake. This is a beautiful & challenging trail run. Restrooms available. Directions: From Southeast 164th Avenue, go east on Southeast First Street (becomes Lake Road. on the south side of Lacamas Lake). Travel approximately 5 miles to Everett Street in Camas. Then go north on Everett Street for 100 yards to the main parking lot for Lacamas Lake Park on the east side of the road. 10-K Downhill Dash — 8 a.m. Oct. 9 in Portland. Part of the 40th Portland Marathon weekend, this special race is limited to 250 runners. It is for competitive runners who can cover 10 kilometers in 60 minutes or less. Race starts at 8 a.m. on marathon day, and covers the final 6.2 miles of the marathon course.
