Letter: Participation is key to good race

It’s unfortunate that some Vancouver City Council candidates are skipping candidate interviews with David Madore’s new media website, Couv.com. A Sept. 4 story reported “Candidates decline to do video for rivals’ funder.” For those paying attention, it’s common knowledge that a strong majority of officers and members of Clark County League of Women Voters are Democrats. Even though I am very conservative, as a former candidate for Camas City Council, I participated in every LWV forum because they run a good ship. All forums are conducted fairly.

Knowing Madore, I am certain his candidate interviews are also conducted fairly. Candidates should have the courage to participate in all forums and not pick and choose just the “friendlies.”
