Lions rookie DT Fairley misses season opener

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Detroit rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley is inactive for Sunday’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a foot injury.

Third quarterback Drew Stanton, cornerback Alphonso Smith, running back Keiland Williams, linebacker Doug Hogue, guard Jacques McClendon and tackle Jason Fox are also inactive for the Lions.

Running back Allen Bradford, safety Larry Asante, cornerbacks Myron Lewis and Anthony Gaitor, tackle Demar Dotson and Derek Hardman and tight Zach Pianalto are inactive for Tampa Bay.
