PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Washington woman is in custody after the Oregon sheriff’s office where she works filed allegations of misuse of computer systems and mishandling of a concealed handgun permit application.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says 57-year-old Lana Smith was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of official misconduct and two counts of computer crimes.

The sheriff’s office won’t say specifically what Smith is accused of doing, and says it will not take questions on the charges. A release from the sheriff’s office says Smith improperly processed an applicant for a concealed handgun license.

Smith, of Vancouver, Wash., was placed on administrative leave on Sept. 15, when the investigation began.

The Associated Press was unable to determine whether Smith had hired an attorney or had one assigned to her.
