Clark College’s nine-game baseball win streak came to a halt Sunday as the Penguins were swept by Pierce College 19-4 and 5-3 in the NWAACC West Division openers at Mt. Tahoma High School field.

Clark (12-4) couldn’t overcome a five-run first inning and an eight-run sixth by Pierce in the first game.

Evan Pickett drove in two runs for Clark, which had eight hits.

A three-run sixth inning by Pierce broke a 2-2 tie in the second game, and Clark could only get one run in the seventh.

Pierce (8-10) held Clark to three hits.

The same two teams are scheduled to meet again at 1 p.m. Monday in a doubleheader at Kindsfather Field at Clark.
