Letter: It takes women to win

The Columbian
Published: April 21, 2012, 5:00pm

Women do matter in every election, and especially now. Women continue to be the major influence in every family as women interact more often with their children and all family members — husbands, parents, in-laws, siblings.

When politicians neglect the health, education, and well-being of women, they make a mockery of the so-called values they hold.

Leaving politics to men ignores the positive strength of women. How dare the majority of legislators, who are male, sit in judgment of the health needs, family care, and legal decisions of more than half the population of our nation?

Men are essential also, and I do not denigrate their worth. What I ask of them is to notice the blatant disregard some men have regarding the health needs, employment opportunities, and economic well-being of our entire nation as they ignore muliebrity (just wanted to use that word to emphasize how stubborn womanhood can be!).
