Vancouver UFC fighter loses in Australia

Ross Pearson sent George Sotiropoulos to the mat early in the third round, then gave the Vancouver-based UFC fighter his third consecutive defeat.

The main event of UFC on Fox 6, the lightweight fight took place Friday night PDT in Australia.

Sotiropoulos, 35, is a native of Australia who now lives in Vancouver and trains at Fisticuffs Gym.

Pearson, a 28-year-old Englishman, was the aggressor early. Sotiropoulos’ best moment was a takedown late in the first five-minute round.

Pearson improves to 16-6 in his return to the 155-pound weight class after a 1-1 run at featherweight. Sotiropoulos falls to 14-5.
