Cleveland State survives Notre Dame (Ohio) 77-66

CLEVELAND (AP) — Marlin Mason scored a career-high 19 points to lead five players in double figures and help Cleveland State survive hot-shooting, Division II-program Notre Dame (Ohio) 77-66 Wednesday night.

Bryn Forbes came off the bench for 12 points, Charlie Lee had 11 and Tim Kamczyc and Sebastian Douglas tallied 10 apiece for Cleveland State (7-4), which shot a season-high 60.4 percent (32 of 53) from the field.

Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half and Cleveland State took a 35-34 lead into the break. Notre Dame (2-8) continued its hot shooting in the second half, hitting 51.9 percent (14 of 27), but Cleveland State made 16 of 22 attempts (72.7 percent) during the frame to pull away.

Cleveland State scored 33 points off 27 Notre Dame errors and got 20 points off the bench.

Eric Dummermuth tallied 19 points and nine rebounds for Notre Dame.
