IPFW beats Kennesaw State 70-47

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Frank Gaines scored 22 points to lead IPFW to a 70-47 win over Kennesaw State on Friday night.

Gaines was 10 of 13 at the free-throw line.

Mario Hines had 16 points and eight rebounds, and Luis Jacobo had 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Michael Kibiloski added 10 points. Pierre Bland had seven assists.

IPFW led 26-22 at halftime. Kennesaw State scored at 4:33, making the game 63-47 IPFW. From that point on, IPFW held Kennesaw State scoreless and increased its lead by seven. IPFW shot 50 percent from the field for the game, while Kennesaw State shot 38 percent.

Markeith Cummings was 8 of 12 from the field, with 20 points and four rebounds for the Owls. Delbert Love and Andrew Osemhen had five rebounds apiece.

Friday’s game marked the first time that IPFW (6-7) and Kennesaw State (1-10) have met on the basketball court.
