After searching nearly 15 minutes, Vancouver police and firefighters found a woman trapped in an upside-down car Saturday night.

Darkness and vegetation made it difficult for rescue crews to spot the vehicle off Lower River Road. Once they did, they found a woman in her 20s. Firefighters used extrication equipment to free her.

“The car looked to have rolled at least a couple of times, said Capt. Kevin Murray of the Vancouver Fire Department.

Fire and police crews responded shortly after 9:15 p.m. to an area between Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park and Kadow’s Marina, about one mile to the north.

The woman, who was not identified, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. She was wearing a seat belt, said Murray.

“I would say she was extremely lucky,” he added.
