Sosa’s 3s pace Canisius over Alcorn State 87-74

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Isaac Sosa scored 21 points and Billy Baron added 19 as Canisius defeated Alcorn State 87-74 Thursday night.

Sosa was 8 of 12 from the field for the Golden Griffins (9-3), including 5 of 9 from 3-point range. He has hit 29 of 55 behind the arc (52.7 percent) in his last seven games.

The senior guard scored eight points during a 17-5 Canisius run at the end of the first half for a 44-32 halftime lead. Baron hit three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point try at the first-half buzzer.

Marquiz Baker scored 30 and Anthony Nieves 20 for the Braves (2-12), who have lost eight straight. Baker has averaged 25.7 in three games since returning from a knee injury that had sidelined him since November of 2011.

Jordan Heath had 14 points and Chris Manhertz 11 for Canisius in the Chevrolet Gotham Classic game
