Villopoto wins 2nd Supercross race of year

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Ryan Villopoto became the first Supercross rider of the season with two victories, winning Saturday night’s main event.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider from Poulsbo, Wash., was passed briefly on the opening lap by Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., who finished third. James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., was second.

Villopoto leads the Supercross Class standings by three points over Reed. Ryan Dungey, who finished fourth, is third overall, five points off the lead.

Eli Tomac, of Cortez, Calif., won his third consecutive western regional Supercross Lites race, extending his points lead to 22.
