Chase Sexton of La Moille, Ill., and Jeremy Martin of Millville, Minn., finished atop the podium at the 2021 Washougal MX Pro National on Saturday at Washougal MX Park.

It was a return to pro racing at the local track after the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic.

Some 20,000 fans turned out among the wooded track to take in what they had missed out on the year before.

In the 450 class, Sexton scored his first moto win of the season by taking the first moto by 3.461 seconds over defending Washougal champion Eli Tomac. Marvin Musquin was third.

Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series points leader Dylan Ferrandis of France finished fifth in the first moto.

Ferrandis did win the second moto by 4.512 seconds over Tomac, but it wasn’t enough as Sexton finished in third place to capture the day’s first place trophy.

Tomac finished second overall, and Ferrandis was third to complete the podium.

In the 250 class, Justin Cooper of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., won the first moto in front of R.J. Hampshire and Jeremy Martin.

Martin, of Millville, Minn., stole the show in the second moto with an 11-second victory, while Cooper crashed out as the race neared the end and finished eighth.

The third-first finishes gave Martin the Washougal 250 title. Hampshire, third in the second moto, was second overall with Cooper third.
