Prep notebook: 3A district basketball championship games to be televised

Vancouver Public Schools TV Productions will be broadcasting live from Friday’s Class 3A boys and girls basketball district championship games at Fort Vancouver High School.

The games will be aired at 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. Friday on Comcast Channel 29. They also will be re-run on Saturday.

This will be the final broadcast for the Fort Sports crew, which is run by Fort Vancouver teacher Andy Berhow and is made up of community volunteers and students. Fort Sports televised several football games, volleyball matches and boys and girls basketball games this season.

The girls game will feature regular-season champion Prairie against Camas or Kelso. The boys game will feature Columbia River against Mountain View or Prairie.

Milestone for Thunder

The Mountain View gymnastics teams clinched its first berth to the state gymnastics championships since 2004 with its second-place finish in last week’s 3A district meet.

The Thunder will compete in the 3A state meet at the Tacome Dome Exhibition Hall on Feb. 17-18.
