George Mason pulls away late to beat Hofstra 72-62

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Ryan Pearson led three players in double figures with 16 points and George Mason pulled away late for a 72-62 win over Hofstra in a Colonial Athletic Association game Wednesday night.

Reserve Sherrod Wright scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half for George Mason, and Mike Morrison added 10 points.

The Patriots (20-6, 12-2) won for the 13th time in 15 games to remain tied for the conference lead with Drexel and Virginia Commonwealth, both of which also won Wednesday night.

With George Mason trailing 56-54, Wright hit a three-pointer and converted a layup on consecutive trips, and Morrison’s free throw put the Patriots up by four with 4:13 left in the game.

Hofstra (8-18, 2-12), which lost for 11th time in 13 games, was led by Mike Moore with 18 points and Nathaniel Lester with 14.
