Hockinson went cold in the second half, allowing Tumwater to pull away with a win in an elimination game in the 2A district tournament.

The Hawks shot 4 for 26 from the field in the second half.

“I don’t think you’re ever going to win game shooting 4 for 26 in the second half,” Hockinson coach Matt Gruhler said. “I wouldn’t even want to try.”

Tumwater’s pressure also forced 24 turnovers from the Hawks, who battled to keep the ball close.

“We battled,” Gruhler said. “I’m proud of the way we played. We just couldn’t get the ball in the hoop.”

Justin Schauer led the Hawks (9-13) with 10 points. Hayden Hall added six points and seven rebounds, and Beau Sparks had six points and eight rebounds.
