Ryan Denny scored 18 points, and Preston Brooks 11, but Prairie could not overcome Decatur’s rebounding advantage and fell in the 3A bi-district quarterfinal game at Franklin Pierce High School.

“This was one of the best teams we’ve played this year,” Prairie coach Kyle Brooks said. “The difference was on the boards. Decatur did a great job outrebounding us.”

Prairie started the game with an 11-4 run, but Decatur surged ahead. Prairie was able to cut an 18-point third-quarter deficit down to eight by mid-fourth quarter but got no closer.

Next for the Falcons is a familiar foe — Mountain View. The two 3A GSHL teams will play for a spot to the regional at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
