Once again, lower elevations in Clark County dodged snow overnight snow but there still is a chance the Vancouver area will see some accumulation by Wednesday. Maybe.

The National Weather Service in Portland says a cold front will continue moving across Washington and bring heavy snow to the Cascades and Columbia River Gorge through Wednesday. Light accumulations at lower elevations are possible today.

A stronger low pressure system will arrive in the area late Tuesday and bring "abundant moisture" over the cold air mass, resulting in more heavy snow for the higher elevations, the weather service said. The second system could bring accumulation to the Vancouver and Portland areas but "details are still very uncertain especially for the lowlands," according to a weather service statement.

Higher elevations around the county woke up to a blanket of snow Tuesday. Several local schools were closed and many more had buses on snow routes.

C-Tran canceled service of its route No. 47 between Yacolt and Battle Ground, due to poor driving conditions. All other routes are operating with regular service but may be delayed due to reports of icy roads and accidents around the county.
