BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU coach Nikki Caldwell says junior college standout LaQuinta Jefferson has committed to transfer to LSU for the 2013-14 season.

Jefferson, a 6-foot guard at Jefferson College in Missouri, will enroll at LSU in the spring of 2013 and will have two years of remaining eligibility when she joins the Lady Tigers.

Caldwell calls Jefferson “a tremendous all-around player and scorer.”

Jefferson, a native of La Vergne, Tenn., averaged 17.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.9 steals per game for Jefferson College as a sophomore this past season. She led the Lady Vikings to a 31-5 record and a National Junior College Tournament berth.

She was one of three finalists for the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association national junior college player of the year award.
