Prep notes: Local teams get academic honors

Add two more teams to the list of state champions this winter from Clark County.

The Hockinson girls basketball team and Prairie girls bowling captured academic state championships this season.

Hockinson earned the top honor among 2A girls basketball teams with a team grade-point average of 3.839. Rod Theer coaches the Hawks.

The Prairie bowling team, coached by Donn Bash, topped Class 3A with a team GPA of 3.460.

Hockinson’s Dunn signs with Lower Columbia — Hockinson High School baseball player Torey Dunn has signed to play baseball for Lower Columbia College in Longview.

Dunn earned a Class 2A Greater St. Helens League all-league honorable last season.
