Camas — The historic Camas Bowling Alley is scheduled to go up in flames during a controlled burn by the Camas Fire Department on March 24.

The building, at 3010 N.E. Third Ave., has been vacant for several years. Personnel from Camas fire, the Washougal Fire Department and East County Fire & Rescue will be in attendance at the burn, Camas Chief Nick Swinhart said in a release.

Smoke is expected to be visible from several miles away, the department said. The initial interior burn will start at 9 a.m. No on-site parking will be available but the public is invited to view the blaze from the nearby skate park, Swinhart said.

Police and public works will be in the area to enforce traffic and crowd safety.
