Letter: Pipeline is key to possibilities

The Columbian

I just do not understand President Obama’s decision not to approve the Keystone XL pipeline.

In fact, I do not understand why he is not jumping all over this and helping the effort.

The only explanation people have come up with is that he is trying to solidify his environmental base, but these folks are not going to vote for a Republican should he change his mind.

Obama seems to be missing a great opportunity to make the majority of conservatives and independents happy while disappointing only a few.

Even the unions would like to see this go through.

I know politics rules the roost here but as we grow closer to $4.50 a gallon for gas, changing President Obama’s mind would benefit everyone and the country, and even a conservative like me will say “Good job.”
