Florida A&M upsets North Carolina Central 22-21

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida A&M scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to upset North Carolina Central 22-21 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday.

Jordan Stanley ran 1 yard for a touchdown, and Chase Varnadore kicked field goals of 17 and 36 yards in the final quarter for the Rattlers (4-6, 4-3). Varnadore kicked five field goals in the game.

Florida A&M outgained North Carolina Central 270-88 in the passing game and outrushed the Eagles 117-41. They also lost three fumbles.

Damien Fleming was 29-of-41 passing for 270 yards for the Rattlers, and Travis Harvey caught 11 passes for 120 yards.

Jordan Reid rushed for one touchdown and passed for another for North Carolina Central Central (6-4, 5-2).

The victory came hard on the heels of Florida A&M head coach Joe Taylor announcing his immediate retirement on Nov. 7. He compiled a 233-96-4 career record.
