Prep roundup: Mountain View’s Jones, Reed place 2nd at 3A tennis regional

Mountain View’s doubles team of Trevor Jones and Colton Reed finished as runner’s up Friday at the 3A West-Central Regional tennis tournament in Tacoma.

They lost to Vincent Viloria and Taas Sribhibhadh from Kennedy Catholic 7-5, 6-0. Jones and Reed had already wrapped up a berth to state by winning their quarterfinal match on Thursday.

Mountain View’s Tyler Sparling and Marcus Kwon, who also qualified for state, finished third at regionals with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Christian Lewis and Hayden Skidmore of Peninsula.

Columbia River’s Dominic Gorecki placed fifth and qualified for state by defeating teammate Dylan Koester 6-1, 6-1.

Mountain View finished second in the team standings to Kennedy 19-12.

The 3A state tournament will be held May 24-25 at Kennewick.

Cross country

Area cross country teams will be competing for spots in next week’s state meet in Pasco at regional and district meets today.

The 4A-3A bi-district race will be run at American Lake Golf Course in Tacoma.

The 2A-1A district meet will be held at The Evergreen State College in Olympia
