Foreclosures down in Portland-Vancouver area

Foreclosure rates in the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro area decreased in June compared with the same period last year, according to data released Tuesday from CoreLogic.

The rate of area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 2.32 percent for June, down 16 percent from the same month last year when the rate was 2.7 percent. Foreclosure activity in Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro was lower than the national foreclosure rate, which was 2.49 percent for June.

The metro-area’s mortgage delinquency rate also decreased in June. CoreLogic reported 4.6 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared with 5.5 percent for the same period last year, representing a decrease of 16 percent.
