Columbia doubles Mass.-Lowell’s in points 78-39

NEW YORK (AP) — Meiko Lyles had 11 points, eight rebounds and made all three of his 3-point attempts on Monday night to lead Columbia over Massachusetts-Lowell 78-39.

Lyles’ first 3-pointer opened a 14-0 first-half run for Columbia. He capped the run with another 3 that put the Lions ahead 38-16 with 1:10 left in the half. Grant Mullins led the Lions with 14 points, Alex Rosenberg had 13 and Maodo Lo 10.

Columbia led 38-18 at the intermission, shot 66.7 percent in the second half and finished the game 57.1 percent from the floor.

The Lions (6-5) held a team under 40 points for the first time since Jan. 7, 2001 when they beat Binghamton 62-37.

UMass-Lowell (1-9) had no players score in double figures. Parris Massey set a career-high with eight points, but the River Hawks shot only 29.4 percent from the field.
