Girls basketball: Woodland 56, Rochester 49

The Beavers got rolling quickly and then had to survive the second-half surge from Rochester to claim the victory in the 1A district tournament game at R.A. Long High School in Longview.

Sidra Malik had 21 points for Woodland (19-2).

Also, Jessica Flanagan had 13 points, four rebounds and four assists, Kendall Grell had nine points and 11 rebounds, and McKenna Mulder had nine points and nine rebounds.

Woodland next faces either Elma or Montesanto on Tuesday.
