US skier Cook leads final worlds downhill training

SCHLADMING, Austria (AP) — American Stacey Cook posted the fastest time in final training session Saturday for the downhill at the world championships.

She timed 1 minute, 50.87 seconds on the Streicher course to lead Marion Rolland of France by 1.83. Stefanie Moser of Austria was 2.34 behind in third.

Austria’s Regina Sterz, who led the first two training sessions, finished more than 3 seconds behind Cook.

Only 22 racers took part in the third session. Tina Maze of Slovenia, Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany, Lara Gut of Switzerland and Anna Fenninger of Austria were among skiers who opted to rest.
