Bell sparks FIU past Arkansas-Little Rock 65-52

MIAMI (AP) — Cameron Bell came off the bench for 17 points to lead four players in double figures in Florida Atlantic’s 65-52 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Thursday night.

Bell made 5 of 8 shots, sank all six free-throw attempts and grabbed eight boards in just 23 minutes of action. Jerome Fink added 13 points, Deric Hill 12 and Tymell Murphy 11 for the Panthers.

FIU (15-12, 10-8 Sun Belt Conference) shot 48 percent (13 of 27) in the first half but Arkansas-Little Rock answered with a 47.6-percent (10 of 21) clip to keep it close at the break, 29-25.

The Panthers fell to 45 percent (9 of 20) after intermission but held the Trojans to 12-of-35 shooting and made 15 of 16 free throws to pull away.

Michael Javes and John Gillon scored 12 apiece for the Trojans (15-13, 9-10), whose 22 turnovers led to 25 points for FIU.
