SEATTLE — More than 20 passengers were safely evacuated from a Sound Transit bus after it caught fire on Interstate 5 on Friday morning in north Seattle.

Fire department spokesman Kyle Moore told KOMO Radio the driver realized something was wrong underneath the bus and pulled over. The driver got everyone off and called for help.

The diesel-powered articulated bus was fully involved in flames at 7 a.m. and still burning more than a half-hour later as firefighters poured water and foam on it.

The fire blocked the southbound express lanes at North 85th Street in during the morning rush hour.
