Prep notes

Hergert suspended — Heritage basketball standout Tim Hergert confirmed Wednesday that he is serving a three-day suspension from school following an altercation with a teammate.

Hergert missed Tuesday’s game against Camas. He is eligible to return to school and the team Friday but is not sure if he will play.

“I’ve got to talk to my coach about it and my teammates, to see if I can play,” Hergert said.

“I just want to apologize for not controlling myself and not letting it go,” he said of the incident.

Hergert is averaging 25.8 points per game for the Timberwolves. He was highlighted in The Columbian prior to this season for his basketball skills as well as his talent as a football and baseball player.

Bussey to Concordia — Prairie senior Taylor Bussey, who was named to The Columbian’s All-Region softball team last spring, reported this week that she intends to sign with Concordia University in Portland.

Bussey was voted by the coaches as the co-player of the year in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League last season. The Falcons missed going to state by one game in the bi-district tournament.
