A Vancouver company was fined $1,500 in December for failing to properly manage its stormwater discharge, the state Department of Ecology announced Thursday.

Alpha Iron LLC was penalized for failing to implement a stormwater pollution prevention plan, as required, and not using “best management practices” for its stormwater, according to the Ecology department. The company also failed to complete inspections or provide monitoring reports, officials said.

The fine was among $537,700 in penalties of $1,000 or more that were handed out by Ecology during the fourth quarter of 2012. Alpha Iron was the only entity in Clark County hit with a penalty during that time.

The largest penalty, by far, went to Seattle-based Burlington Environmental LLC. The company was fined $282,000 for 16 violations of dangerous waste-handling requirements, according to the ecology department.
