Letter: Let’s trim from the top down

How about our government reducing every department by 1 percent every quarter until revenues received equal expenditures paid? It might take years, but at least it is a start. Does anyone have a better idea to balance our budget?

My second suggestion is to read our forefathers’ statements before giving up any freedoms and liberties guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights for some temporary safety, real or imagined.
