Letter: Welcome to new director

The Columbian

I’d like to be the first to welcome Don Benton to his new position as Clark County’s director of environmental services.

As an environmentalist of Clark County I would love to invite him out for coffee just as I did Commissioner Mielke after he took office. My bet is that Benton would enjoy the visit; to see the rain barrel system we have in place is well worth the trip. Also, I hope the new director will take a serious look at the septic tank program and the fee deemed upon those that have septic tanks. For those of us who comply with the laws, why do we have to pay for the neglect of others?
