The National Park Service noted several milestones on its one-year anniversary of taking over the South and East Vancouver Barracks.

Since the barracks became part of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site on May 28, 2012, the Park Service has finalized its master plan for the area, continued essential grounds work and caretaking, created an agreement to retain the Army post’s exchange and barber shop, finished emergency repairs and assessed the utility infrastructure.

Officials plan to announce plans for their second year’s stewardship this month. Visit http://nps.gov/fova/parknews/newsreleases.htm for details.
