Carrie is a 3-year-old black female stray. She seems pretty independent and is looking for a home where she can relax in the sun or on a nice bed. Carrie would like to meet your kids before you adopt her, and she would benefit from a slow introduction to any other cats you have at home. Ask to meet Carrie today!

Meet Lacey. She is a 9-year-old American pit bull terrier who came to the shelter when her owners could no longer care for her. Lace already knows her basic obedience commands and loves to play with toys and give kisses! Lacey likes all the attention to herself, so it would be best if she were the only pet in her home. Lacey will also need a home that has a 6-foot wood-fenced yard to keep her safe, so she can run and play outside without having to worry about getting lost. Have children? Please bring them down to meet her.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. The Humane Society is closed to the public on Mondays. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
