Two full-size C-Tran buses collided at a Northeast Hazel Dell intersection Monday morning.

Patricia Hern was driving a bus north on Highway 99 approaching Northeast 88th Street about 6:45 a.m., according to Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Neiman.

Sharon Stewart was driving a bus south on Highway 99 and turning east onto 88th Street with a green arrow. Hern’s bus had a red light but the bus continued north and collided with the oncoming bus, Neiman said.

No passengers were on board and neither driver was injured, he said. Traffic was briefly disrupted in the area.

No citations were issued. At the time, it was dark and foggy which may have contributed to the crash, Neiman said.

Jim Quintana, spokesman for C-Tran, said the two drivers had undergone a post-accident drug and alcohol test and were put on administrative leave until the investigation into the collision is completed, both of which he said are standard protocol.
