The Portland Winterhawks nearly overcame a 3-0 deficit, but fell a goal shot in a 3-2 loss to the Everett Silvertips in Western Hockey League action Friday at Comcast Arena in Everett.

Oliver Bjorkstrand scored 1:31 into the third period to make the score 3-1, and Derrick Pouliot’s power-play goal three minutes later made the score 3-2.

But that’s all the Winterhawks (16-5-1-1) could get.

Everett (15-3-4-0) got first period goals from Manraj Hayer and Tyler Sandhu as they took a 2-0 lead into the second period.

Sandhu struck again with a power play goal 1:19 into the second period to make it 3-0.

Brendan Burke took the loss in net for the Hawks with 33 saves on 36 shots.

• Bellingham kept the Vancouver Vipers winless with a 7-0 Northern Hockey League victory Friday at Mountain View Ice Arena.
