Letter: Capitalism has corrupted holiday

Why don’t we just take Thanksgiving off the calender? It now seems to be all about money.

Growing up we spent the day at my grandparents’. After dinner we cousins drew names for our gifts. We then sang Christmas carols. We talked about what we were thankful for. No rushing to go shopping. We were all thankful for our grandparents, our families. Then we got to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. What has happened? It is all about that dollar. Join me and stay away from the mall this Thanksgiving. Be thankful. And remember the true meaning of Christmas.
