Stephen F. Austin tops Marshall 80-73 in OT

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Jacob Parker scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Thursday and Stephen F. Austin came from behind to beat Marshall 80-73 in overtime.

Desmond Haymon tied the game at 67 at the end of regulation play by hitting three free-throws in a row, then Parker hit a 3-pointer and a dunk to help the Lumberjacks (3-1) outscore Marshall (2-2) 13-6 in OT for the win.

The Lumberjacks led 32-20 at the half, but Marshall clawed back and the lead changed eight times. The Thundering Herd were shooting in the bonus and had numerous chances to pull away down the stretch but couldn’t convert free throws when it counted.

Haymon, however, could and was 7-for-7 from the line. Nikola Gajis scored 13 points for the Lumberjacks and Thomas Walkup added 10.

Elijah Pittman led Marshall with 21 points, including four 3-pointers, Kareem Canty had 14 points and Chris Thomas added 11.
