Prep Roundup: Camas girls open Cactus Jam with win

Addison Harris scored 10 points to lead Camas girls basketball to a 54-35 win over Mercyhurst Prep of Pennsylvania in its opener at the Cactus Jam on Monday.

Nine Papermakers scored in the first of three games in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Camas (5-3) took charge in the second quarter, outscoring Mercyhurst 14-2 to take a 29-13 halftime lead.

Parker Mairs had six points, six steals and five assists. Reagan Jamison and Keirra Thompson each scored eight points.

Girls basketball

HOCKINSON 48, MOUNTAIN VIEW (Ore.) 45 — Gracie Brammer scored 16 points as the Hawks opened play at the Holiday Hoopfest in Bend, Ore., with a win.

Hockinson (7-1) trailed by 12 points in the first quarter but pulled even by halftime.

Brammer went 7 for 7 at the free throw line to help the Hawks stay ahead.

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 43, THE DALLES (Ore.) 39 — Laurel Quinn scored 29 points and hit eight of the Knights’ nine 3-pointers.

Bridget Quinn added nine points for King’s Way (5-1), which outscored The Dalles 18-9 in the fourth quarter.

Boys basketball

CANYON SPRING (Nev.) 80, HERITAGE 25 — Canyon Spring outscored Heritage 32-2 in the first quarter in the Clark County Holiday Invitational at Fort Vancouver.

Vernon Onick scored 14 points to lead Heritage (2-5).

WESTMONT (Calif.) 48, COLUMBIA RIVER 40 — Aaron Hoey scored 22 points to lead the Rapids in their first game at the Cactus Jam in Arizona.

Columbia River (2-4) led by as many as five points, but a 8-0 run in the second half sent Westmont on its way to a win.

R.A. LONG 72, SEATTLE ACADEMY 64 — Aaron Ofstun scored 22 points as the Lumberjacks held off a tough 1A opponent at the Clark County Holiday Invitational at Fort Vancouver.

CAMAS 60, GROSSMONT (Calif.) 41 — Carson Frawley and Quentin Allen each scored 16 points as the Papermakers rolled in their opener at the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic in San Diego.

Stephen Behil added 11 points for Camas (5-0)
