Letter: Many voters favor the ACA

The Columbian

I am extremely disappointed that our congressional representative, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, has agreed with the shutdown of the government by refusing to vote to fund the Affordable Care Act. This is an extremely destructive move that is catering to a radical political philosophy that is willing to destroy America in order to “save” it.

In 2012, Mitt Romney ran for president in opposition to the ACA. Obama ran in support of it. The American people chose Obama. Please, Herrera Beutler, allow democracy to work and stop supporting the radicals who would rather see America shut down than to implement the will of the people.

Frankly, I believe that the Republicans are afraid that people will like Obamacare once it is implemented and they will look like fools for opposing it so strongly. It’s not perfect but it’s a good start. Please start becoming part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
